Great and Unsearchable Things

"Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know." Jeremiah 33:3

Great and unsearchable things ... that's what God promised to tell Jeremiah. When we call to God, he also tells us great and unsearchable things.

Like what?
you may wonder. Like the depth of love that would motivate him to send his Son to die in your place. Like the unending supply of his mercy and grace available to you today. Like what he's doing in this world and how he wants to use you in his plan.

Quite often we use the internet to find answers to questions, but there are some inquiries we just can't Google with successful results ... Why does God allow suffering? What is truth? Why am I here?

Some questions only God can answer. Life's greatest mysteries cannot be discovered on the computer screen; instead, we have access to the theological database of Scripture. Great and hidden things are ours for the asking. When we want to know about the God who loves even sinners like us, the Holy Spirit leads us to seek answers in His Word. And through His Holy Word, our Lord shows us Jesus, our Savior.

For many of us, the problem is that we think prayer is an exercise in talking. But to hear great and unsearchable things, we must also be listening.

Father God, our hearts are full of questions ... some are troubling questions ... and we're longing for answers. Reassure us that even the greatest mysteries of life are safely in Your care. Give us the desire and yearning to dig into Your Word often; on a daily basis, to seek out the great and unsearchable things You promise to share with us. Provide people in our lives that will encourage us and hold us accountable to being in Your Word daily. Help us to grow closer to You together as a family, discovering what You want us to know. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen
